2018 – Lynn Staker

This exhibitor was nominated by a new exhibitor in the Midwest Region who felt a warm friendship and guidance and now is hooked on showing. Linda Lyon had attended a number of shows over the years but hadn’t shown – but with the encouragement of this Midwest exhibitor she entered her first show in February. She got help with bathing, paperwork and all the tips that come with entering her first cat show. Participating in a cat show is a memory she will always treasure and with the help of Lynn Staker going above and beyond – we have a new person in our cat shows.

2017 – Allene Keating

Going Above and Beyond Award

This is an award that was started by Regional Director, Kathy Calhoun; to honor individuals within the region that have gone above and beyond the call of friendship, regional needs or any other area that is considered going out of ones way to make sure the needs of the region or another individual are taken care of.

This year the award goes to someone who stepped up right away under the new Regional Director to help out and took the lead on a couple of projects. She led the Planning Committee and spearheaded the 4-Ringer show concept, diligently attempting to find locations and club sponsors. She organized a team and followed through with every project. The 2017 Going Above and Beyond Award goes to Allene Keating.

2016 – Lucy Drury

This is an award that was started by Regional Director, Kathy Calhoun; to honor individuals within the region that have gone above and beyond the call of friendship, regional needs or any other area that is considered going out of ones way to make sure the needs of the region or another individual are taken care of. This is not a yearly award.

This year we have another individual and a company to highlight. This year the a brand new, beautiful website was produced for the Midwest Region. The work to create this website was no small feat! It’s creation was over 6 months in the making! The website is fast and filled with content, with more things being added every week! But we could not have gotten to this point without the efforts of an additional individual who volunteered and played Sherlock Holmes with our old website.

So tonight, in recognition of website maintenance and website development I would like to recognize Lucy Drury, Cathy Dunham and Sunflower Development Solutions for going above and beyond!

2015 – Brian Pearson

Midwest Region Going Above and Beyond Award – 2015

In April of this year, CFA had a near fatal experience happen to one of our judges. The judge who experienced a medical emergency was Wain Harding. Wain was on the April Denver show slate and arrived at the hotel in the middle of a medical emergency. I was there and watched it unfold from the hotel lobby. Fortunately, Wain survived and is make great strides to recover. When Wain arrived at the hotel he was wheeled to his room and would not or could not answer knocks at the door. But one person was more persistent and somehow managed to enter the room and come to Wain’s aide. Emergency medical help was called to the hotel and Wain was taken to the hospital. We don’t know with absolute certainty but it is highly likely if Wain had not gotten to the hospital when he did the morning may have bought a tragedy. One of Wain’s friends who was persistent in entering Wain’s room and stayed by his side may very well have saved his life. Tonight we would like to recognize that person in the hero category of friend in deed. A friend in need is a friend indeed and tonight we would like to honor our own Brian Pearson who came to Wain’s aid. Brian is the first ever Midwest Friend in Deed Award Winner.

Midwest West Region Going Above and Beyond Award – 2015

As most of you know, we had to change weekends and venues for this year’s Regional. That is by no means an easy feat especially close to the event date. One member of the MW Strategic Planning Committee truly stepped up to the plate and was instrumental in making this Regional happen. This person found an alternate venue for the show and an alternate venue for the banquet, checked availability and got contracts launched in THREE DAYS. Let me repeat THREE DAYS. In addition to that, she was never formally requested to do this. She just took it upon herself to do what had to get done and as a result we are in this beautiful facility this evening. Tonight I would like to recognize efforts an individual for efforts Above and Beyond the call of duty Award to Cathy Dunham.
